93. On Happiness

Happiness is a direction, not a destination.

That’s what I learned from Arthur Brooks when he appeared on the Jordan Harbinger show in February of 2024.

It’s interesting that now, in the Summer of 2025, Arther Brooks has really taken off in social media land (well not that interesting given that he wants you to buy his new book). He’s saying some interesting things, so if you haven’t, I suggest perusing his channels.

Anyhow, happiness is a frequently discussed subject, and it’s of particular interest personally, because it’s always seemed like that thing over there. That thing that’s always in view, but never in hand.

It’s why I think Brooks is indeed on to something. I mean he did write a book about “The Art and Science of Getting Happier”, which I have not yet read. But it seems like a title I should, and perhaps so should you.

I’m writing this because I know I’m not the only one that tends to see happiness as something that’s coming, but hasn’t yet arrived.
