88. Moving From Childhood to Adulthood
Recognizing Awesome

Jim Rohn used to say that the moment you move from childhood to adulthood is when you begin taking personal responsibility. When you stop pointing your finger at everything except yourself. That’s what he called real maturity.
The ability to act in accordance with your own conclusions is a sign of true confidence in who you are. But we get stuck being finger pointers.
Everything we do we compare to what others are doing. Everything others are doing we compare to what we’re doing.
When we attend an event, we compare it to another one. One thing is always better than another. One person is always further ahead, further behind, better or not quite as good as someone else.
All I’d like to suggest today is to stop comparing.
And I don’t just mean yourself. That gets talked about a lot. It’s what people refer to when they say comparison in the thief of joy.
But let’s go further. Let’s stop comparing the things around us. The events and places we go to, the shows we see and the businesses we spend at. We don’t need to compare them.
