25. Don’t Leave For Tomorrow That Which Can Be Done Today
Adopting a Speed Mindset

You may notice that today’s issue of Coffee With Cody is coming later than usual. The reason for that is because I did not do exactly what I’m about to recommend you do. It’s funny how often what I write about seems to point me back towards the habits and behaviours I know will benefit me, and I know I want to adopt. On that note, if you’ve never journaled, tracked your days or written out how you want your life to be, try it out. Once your thoughts are in physical or even digital form, you can’t hide from them, but I digress.
I left for today that which could have been done yesterday, or several days ago for that matter. The thing is I knew it, but I neglected it anyway. I’m sending this to you now because I didn’t write it until today. Honestly, no big deal, but it’s not the way I would prefer it.
Preferably, you can start the day with a clean slate every time you wake up, and if you ask me, that’s possible. One simple approach is to adopt a simple strategy from Dale Carnegie’s “How To Stop Worrying And Start Living”. One of my 3 top takeaways from that book was to live in day tight compartments. From the context of the book, this had more to do with focusing on today and not worrying about tomorrow. However, if you don’t want to worry about tomorrow, then make sure you take care of business today. If there are lingering tasks that seep across weeks or even months, it’s pretty difficult to focus only on today.
