Preface

This particular issue of Coffee With Cody needs a preface so you can understand and benefit from its content. Generally speaking, I write about things that I believe to be true for everyone. I try to make whatever I write as applicable as possible to anyone who might stumble upon it. Coffee With Cody is not only for a certain subset of people, it’s for everyone, at least that’s my intention.

The reason I preface this week’s issue by saying this is because I know plenty of people disagree with my viewpoint on the forthcoming topic. Not only that, but there are people who I admire, look up to, and who I even strive to become like who would disagree with me. Even so, I want you to read this. In fact, I just want you to read period, and I never want you to stop reading because I believe your life depends on it.

Introduction

This is about the importance of reading, so let me tell you about a book I read last year called “How to Read a Book”. In the book, “How to Read a Book”, I learned how important it is to look into the author of whatever you’re reading. Context is king when it comes to fully understanding the message that’s being communicated through text. Knowing where someone is coming from whenever making an attempt to interpret their communication is a pre requisite to comprehension, which is why I’d like to tell you where I’m coming from.
