16. The Price is Easy if the Promise is Clear
When Paying Becomes Effortless

There’s 2 ways to face the future. 1 is with apprehension, and the other is with anticipation.
If you know what it is you want, making life decisions becomes easy. The guide to your day to day actions, choices and behaviours is literally right in front of you. It’s your future.
If there’s one thing I want you take from this today, it’s that neglecting to think about your future is one of the larger mistakes you can make. When Christina and I got married, we didn’t talk about the future very much. We were young, married and had no life plans. Luckily, it didn’t take very long before we were shown that if you want to make something of your life you actually have to plan for it. Furthermore, you have to work for it, whatever it is.
For us, becoming homeowners was one of the first things we planned on doing. I distinctly remember 2 conversations about homeownership within a year after we tied the knot. The first was apprehensive. It concluded that maybe someday in the far distant future it would be something we could achieve. The second was fuelled by anticipation. It came after our epiphany that we could actually choose our future.
