13. Understanding Why We Are the Way We Are
Making our world a bit less bad

I firmly believe that things will happen for you when you’re ready for them to happen and not before. Previously you’ve heard me say that you’re already equipped with everything you need to handle any scenario you go through. Further to that statement, you’re not ready for what’s not here yet. There are certainly things you can do to expedite your progression towards being ready for big things, acting like it before you are it to name one example, but as I look back at my own life, I can’t find a single moment that came that I wasn’t ready for. Don’t get me wrong, I certainly didn’t always realize it in the moment. However, if we master looking into the past, understanding the present becomes much easier.
It’s easier said than done, but if we release our own Ghost of Christmas past on ourselves and replay what’s already happened, we might just pull off a Scrooge and change our future.
The most important question we can ask ourselves is why?
Something happened. Why?
I feel a certain way. Why?
Things are going well. Why?
Things are going poorly. Why?
The answers are there if you spend time finding them. To find those answers, you’ll have to take advantage of Gary Vee’s 2 favourite words: SELF AWARENESS. If you look for those answers somewhere outside yourself, you will be perennially disappointed. On the other hand, if you form the habit of looking inward, you’ll soon know why you are the way you are, and that can be a superpower.
If you know why you are the way you are, manipulating how you are becomes possible. Don’t hope for positive outcomes, manipulate them.
